Valencia will be more connected than ever to the “auroral oval.” The airline Finnair has announced that it will establish a direct and regular connection between Valencia and Helsinki starting next April and throughout the year.
What was initially going to be a spring and summer connection will be extended to winter. This new route will operate between both cities without stopovers for the first time, and from autumn onwards, the frequency will increase to four flights a week from the current two.
This increase coincides with the peak season for viewing the Northern Lights in the Arctic region.
Connection with Finnish Lapland
Helsinki serves as the main hub for access to Finnish Lapland, a territory located within the “auroral oval,” the area with the highest probability of sighting this phenomenon.
From the capital, there are multiple flights to destinations such as Rovaniemi, Saariselkä, and Levi. The optimal season for viewing extends from September to March.
