November is the quintessential month for honey. All Saints’ Day usually marks the end of the annual beekeeping cycle, when the bees begin to slow down and it’s the perfect time to harvest the honey from the supers. And, naturally, it coincides with the best artisanal honey fairs and markets.
In Valencia—or rather, in Montroi, about 50 minutes from the capital—FIVAMEL, the Valencian Honey Fair, takes place from Friday, November 6, through Sunday, November 8. It’s the perfect way to sweeten your weekend by discovering the best producers and enjoying lesser-known varieties.
This is a very special edition, as the fair is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, organizers have put together a program worthy of the event. Classified as a Festival of Tourist Interest in the Valencian Community, this event features a large market, as well as the National Honey Competition and the presentation of the “Abelleta d’Or” award.
During the three-day fair, some fifty exhibitors will gather, offering various types of honey and honey jelly, as well as other products such as honey-based cosmetics.
