The Royal Spanish Football Federation has announced the suspension of all Copa del Rey matches scheduled for today following the tragic train accident in Toledo. The 24 matches scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, have been canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date yet to be determined.
This suspension affects four Valencian teams: Valencia CF, Levante UD, UE Tavernes, and CD Alcoyano. Consequently, the derby at Mestalla between UE Tavernes and Valencia CF will not take place, Alcoyano will not host Mallorca, and Levante will not travel to Cuenca to face Tarancón.
The match between Valencia and Tavernes will still be played at Valencia’s stadium, even though Tavernes will be the visiting team at the special request of the club from La Safor. The postponement will not affect the venue change in any way.
Tomorrow’s matchday remains up in the air, but for now, no professional soccer matches will be played “as a sign of respect and solidarity with all the victims,” as announced by the RFEF in a statement. The federation will announce the new dates and kickoff times for the matches through its official channels.
