The Carnival parade will take place on Saturday, February 17 through the streets of the Ruzafa neighborhood starting at 5 pm. For 5 hours, 50 neighborhood groups such as batucadas, neighborhood associations, social movements and representations of different countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia will participate in this massive parade.
The planned route is as follows: the head of the parade will leave the Granero Park, in the direction of Filipinas Street. Then, it will continue along the streets of Pintor Gisbert, Cuba, Sueca, Literato Azorín and Cuba until returning to the starting point, the Granero Park.
If you then stay in the neighborhood, we recommend that you take a look at our gastronomic guide or get lost in the restaurants that we think are a must if you are in Ruzafa.
Carnival Proclamation in Valencia: Saturday, February 10
The theme of this year’s Valencia Carnival will be focused on Human Rights, NO to war or the refusal to the expansion of the port of Valencia, although there will also be room for protests against the PAI (integrated action plan) of Russafa located in front of the Al Russafi Municipal Library or the claim of “El Muelle 4” as a self-managed civic center in the Parc Central.
These demands will be reflected in the proclamation, scheduled for February 10 at 5 p.m., with an inaugural masked ball to be held at the aforementioned Pier 4 of the Parc Central.
The opening speech is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the same place. Personalities of the Valencian culture will participate and will end with a great batucada inside and outside the pier.
