Munich is a long way away, but here in Valencia we also love beer and take every opportunity we can to celebrate—and Oktoberfest is no exception. Although we do it “the Valencian way, ” celebrating the October festival in September.
The most traditional Bavarian festival returns once again to the capital of the Turia River with thousands of liters of beer, pretzels, pork knuckle, sausages, and all kinds of traditional German food. Among the beer varieties, the full range of Paulaner beers stands out, along with a special limited-edition variety: Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier, which is maltier and has a bright golden color. There will also be alcohol-free (0.0%) and gluten-free options available.
This year, Oktoberfest has changed locations and is now being held at El Garaje Foodie through September 27. Unlike in previous years, admission is 100% free, and the festival features games and activities such as a beer mug lifting contest. There will also be entertainment and waitstaff dressed in traditional regional costumes, as well as live music ranging from traditional Tyrolean tunes to more contemporary rhythms. Hours are from 7:00 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Sunday.
New location: El Garaje Foodie
El Garaje Foodie—a former auto repair shop from the 1960s that has been converted into a food market with a wide selection of food trucks—is the venue chosen to host this year’s Paulaner Oktoberfest.
This venue, located near the Aragón area and Blasco Ibáñez Avenue (at 10 Dr. Ferran Street), can accommodate more than 600 people and features dozens of tables with built-in benches. In addition, the restaurant was awarded a Repsol “Solete” for its wide selection and culinary quality.
